Yes I believe you are correct.

That means I'll need to splice in bits from
VHS because I was trying to get an improved quality over my 20 year old
tapes and save them as DVD-vr.

Suppose I'll end up buying the commercial DVDs in
    the end!

    Hi,

Did anyone else notice that UKTV Drama skipped
    part of the proposal
scene from "The Wind Blows Free"? The episode has
    Anne saying
    ".....
poor bedfellows, Captain Onedin", then there's an
    advert break, and
the episode continues with James saying, "For richer or

poorer .....".  The piece re James having "ambition enough for an

army of Napoleons" has been cut.

Did any of you notice other
cuts?  There was one other place which
didn't seem quite right to me,
again when there were adverts, but
    I
    can't recall where this
    occurred.

Looks like they are running the episodes
sequentially every week day (except Sat and Sun)

It will take 3 weeks to go through the first series
    if they continue this way.

A good plan might be to mail UK Drama in a week or
two's time saying what a great series it is and pestering them about it in
general. If we all do continue to do that now and again it will look to them
they have a very popular show on there (after all I suspect they will rarely get
much feedback about a particular programme).

Might make them decide to keep running
    it?

    Bill.

    they
are starting with the first series which I already have on vidoe for

    years.

does anyone know if they will be running rihgt

i want to see it from Series 3 onwards.  and
    they seem to ahve cut

    Hi shipmates,

For those of you who live in the UK
and others able to obtain the Radio
Times, there's a small colour photo of
Anne & James in next week's
issue (18 - 24 June) to celebrate the
return of The Onedin Line on UKTV
    Drama on Tuesday.

    The other
listings magazines may also include something but I've not
    looked at these
    yet.

Can't wait for the show to be back!

    Regards to
    all,

I have a long association with the Isle of Man. My
mother lived there as did some other relatives of mine. I spend many weeks a
year in the IOM where I share a holiday home with my brother.

Reading the June copy of "Manx Tails" a
free magazine, I noticed an article about the Laxey mine, and was surprised to
    see Mike Billington's name mentioned.

I never realised he was a resident of the island!
Must have passed him in the street somewhere on the island over the years
    and never realised!

Although the article is really about a little
railway and not about Mike I thought maybe some of you might like to take a
look at it. So I have posted it here for the time being:

    Bill.

    Hello there,

Yes it is a very sad time for all his fans and of course his family.

If I could ask you all to be patient on this matter, as the news of
Mike's death was supposed to have remained private until after his funeral on
Monday when his family wanted to make a public announcement, this is mainly
    for his son Mike Jnr.

If you would like to make a donation for Macmillan Cancer Care or Marie
Curie Cancer Care as this is the request of his family no flowers etc.

As members of Mike's fan team we ourselves have not sent any condolenses
directly as this was the request of his family, and we felt also that now
isn't the time..when we do we will be sure to say that any feelings or
thoughts, sentiments will be passed on will come directly from his fan
community..I will let you know so that you may like to pass on thoughts
etc..or better still put them on the guestbook on the mikebillington fans site
    at http://www.mikebillingtonfans.com
and we will be sure to read them and pass them at the right time.

Mike was 63, and as you may or may not already know, he had been
suffering with Cancer for a few years but had kept that information private,
none of us at the team knew,we were all in contact with Mike very often and
would meet up with him so we were very shocked to learn of his illness, but to
me this shows what a great person he was never to have burdened others with
his own suffering, don't know how else to put it into words..

I hope this answers any questions and please I ask that you all respect
the wishes of his family in terms of flowers etc

    Many thanks,

    Hello to all members,

It is with regret that I have
    some terrible news regarding Mike
Billington, who as you know played the
part of "Fogarty" in the first
    3 series.

    Sadly Mike has passed away
    in the last week.

If you go to http://www.mikebillingtonfans.com there
is a message from all of
us at the team with some information.

    Kind

    Hi everyone,

Been kind of busy just recently but managed to add
    another description to the site.

The lighter nights and better weather means I don't
spend so much time in front of the PC

I'll keep adding descriptions when I get a chance.
If anyone wants to contribute some more or write better ones than I
have done so far please send them to me.

    Hi Ron,

Well if you have not followed the story from the beginning then you are in
for a treat. In 1860 you need to be ruthless to succeed, I not sure I agree
    with the jerk bit though.

Come to think about it some things don't change much in the business

No problem Geraldine, I can find the start and
    finish of the episodes.

I have dressed up a couple of the descriptions with
some stills from the episodes. What does everyone think? Worth doing them
    all?

    I think so.

I'll do some more when I have the
    time.

In answer to everyone who has contacted me about
this, thanks for the support and comments.

To start things off I have drafted a test web page
    at this location:

This sets out my basic idea, the page is an index
to each episode there will be a link to each page which has the description.

Please take a look if you are interested, any ideas
    / improvements are welcome.

If you want to contribute a description mail it to
me, it can be :-  email, notepad (.txt), Word (.doc) (.rtf), and
pretty well any other word processor format. Text only, no images. All
contributors will be credited on the page unless I am specifically asked not
    to.

I reserve the right to edit / alter them if
necessary for the purpose of making them into html pages.

I suggest descriptions are kept as concise as
possible, certainly no more than about the equivalent of one sheet of A4
    paper.

Also please notice the url for these pages may
alter as I am thinking of placing them on another server. I'll update everyone
on that when the time comes.

    Bill.

    Excellent!

I know some people have difficulty accessing
the group's web site, since this would be text I could easily find
space on my server for a web page with the info. This would then be
available from a simple url (web address).

Anyone who is interested send a description to
me and I will organise them into a webpage of all the episodes.

I think for the time being at least a very
simple outline of each story is all that is needed, they can always be
    expanded in the future.

This can be based on Diana's comprehensive
episode list. (If she does not mind). I'll start it off with a couple
of my own accounts and you can see what you think of it.

    Bill.

    Hi Bill,

    good idea to have descriptions
    of   a l l  episodes.

    There is a website available
with descriptions of the episodes in SERIES
    2 :
    http://www.tvtome.com/servlet/episode
    guide/summary/showid-1616s/season-all.

    If more group members
are interested in having descriptions, it might
be a good idea to share
the task of providing them? I'd be willing to
    contribute a few
    descriptions, if
    necessary.
