Hi and welcome to all new members, esp Marianne, whom I see has just
    joined today. Welcome Marianne!
I know this is not exactly charging along like a swift Yankee Clipper
at the moment (more like one of the old "Floating Kettles" when the
coal has run out!), but the group is growing, slowly.
I think we would all prefer to have TRUE aficionados of the series
here, even in small groups, than have hundreds of people who have no
real interest in the series and are just joining for the fun and/or
hell of it. Rather a smaller and more selective club than a large
(dare I say the word?) common one, dont'cha know?
I'm open to any ideas anyone has to make the group more interesting.
I've developed an Onedin Line-themed game, which if anyone is
interested we could probably conduct through the group — sort of a
role-play thing, where you buy your first ship (like James), secure a
cargo and trade it out with the other masters on the seas, building
up your shipping empire or floundering to your financial ruin. Might
be fun: I call it "High Seas Trader". If enough people are
interested, maybe we can make something of it…
Let me know if anyone's interested.
    Se you all soon
