Clarification needed please – DVDs!!

Hi

I think I am not following this thread properly but I can't find a
definitive answer to this! (It's just a senior moment ….)

The DVD's on the dutch website:

1. Are they every episode (not the compilations)?
2. Are they in English? Or sub-titled?
3. Can they be played in the UK (region 2)

Have any of the UK listers bought them?

PLease help – my Christmas present hangs in the balance!

1.Yes, they are every eipsode; and each episode is complete with
credits, etc.
2. They are in English with Dutch subtiutles; rthe subtitles can be
turned off.
3. They are region 2; so they should play on every British dvd player

Thanks Helga for that clarification!!

My original tapes of series 1 are a little worn now and I don't like
to use them. I didn't just want to buy compilation ones like from
Playback .

Christmas here we come!

Hi Fiona,

just to avoid misunderstandings: The information I gave last time was
about SERIES THREE which is newly available on the Dutch bol.com website!!!

The versions of series ONE and TWO are the BBC versions (episodes cut;
two episodes missing; no separation between individual episodes).

If you want the complete e p i s o d e s ONE to EIGHT from Series ONE:
There is a version of these episodes for the Canadian/American market
(available e.g. via Amazon.com); they consist of two parts with two
discs each (the cover gives a wrong impression because its photo is
obviously taken from one of the later series). They are region one, so
you will need a multi-region dvd player.

Just as a bit of information.

Many DVD players can be unlocked or "hacked " to play discs from any region.
Some also let you turn off Macrovision so you can copy to VHS if you want
to.

To see if your player is one go to:
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks and see if it is listed.

Or do a search on Google, often the manufacturer's website has instructions.

My players will now operate with DVDs from any region.

Hi everybody,

 

There’s also another
solution. I have a programme, and it’s free to download from internet,
which copies every DVD. You can even choose in which region code you want to
have the copy. So If there’s a need to copy the series 3 in DVD region 1
I’ll be willing to make a copy which can circulate for those who have the
US DVD system.

The name of the programme
is DVD Shrink and it’s easy to use.

Hi Helga

I will just have to stick with what I have got at the moment then!.
Pity about the series 1 and 2 DVD's. The next computer we get is to
have a TV adaptor so I hoping to copy my VHS tapes to DVD so I don't
have to worry about them
