Does anyone know whether or not the actual footage for Series 5 to 8 exists ?

Are there any plans to make them available on DVD ?

I have tried to contact the BBC but did not get a sensible reply.

Yes the whole of the Onedin Line does exist, and it looks hopeful that there will be releases of more of the series in future.
