    Hi William Murphy,

On The Gilmore/Stallybrass site Diana's Onedin Line background text
    says:

"In terms of the cast, Jill Gascoine had intended to continue as
Letty Onedin as well as appearing in her new series, The Gentle
Touch. However, this proved impossible when filming on the latter was
rescheduled resulting in a clash with that of The Onedin Line."

It has always puzzled my mind how The Story of The Onedin Line would
have ended if Jill Gascoine has been able to be in the cast of the
series 8. If I've understood correctly all the scripts were already
written with Letty being alive before this timetable problem with
    Jill.

So I thought as you've been in the team, if you can remember anything
any more of the plot with Letty in series 8?

Letty has always been the number 3 on my Onedin list after James and
Anne. And I'm sorry to say I think the series 8 is the worst one of
the lot. The show should have ended after 7 series to the scene where
Letty says in a fit of anger to James:
"James Onedin you are being so stubborn and big headed."
    James answering.
"I know, always have been and always will be!"

Wishing also to all members of The Shiponedingroup

MERRY CRISTMAN AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Glad it didn't end, I'd not have been in it!! Naturally I think it was the best series!

Funny, I thought series 8 was as good as the others, although I suppose
everyone involved knew it was likely to be the last.

Especially, I thought Jessica Benton produced some of her best work in the
maturing role of Elizabeth. But I'm biased about that I supposed because she
was my favourite in the show.

Nice to see you are around Richard, you should tell us more about your
    experiences filming "Capt.Mangled".

    🙂

    Bill.
