ivaradi1975ParticipantBill, I have received your invite, however, I noticed then that groups.io does not accept any new transfer requests (https://groups.io/yahootransfer)... So we have indeed run out of time 🙁That said, I have found this tool: https://github.com/IgnoredAmbience/yahoo-group-archiver. I have managed to download all content (all conversations, files and photos), except the member list. I could set up a forum on my server (which I mentioned earlier) and import this data into it, just as groups.io could have done. However, it would be nice to have member list as well (though, of course, people would be able to subscribe once the forum is up). I think the reason for the tool failing to download it is that my user account has no access to it.Bill, could you make me an administrator or some other kind of user with a higher access level, so that I could try downloading the member list? Thanks,IstvánOn Fri, Dec 6, 2019 at 4:09 PM István Váradi <ivaradi@gmail.com> wrote:Perhaps it failed, because I am already in the group with that email address. $220 when paid in advance for the full year, or $20/month. I am willing to do

There is a section named "Support Issues", perhaps you could post a support request there asking Yahoo to restore your access.Istvánivaradi1975ParticipantHi Lee,thanks, I am quite confident I will be able to use the messages. The website with the messages will be available at https://onedin.varadiistvan.hu. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]ivaradi1975ParticipantHi Lee,thanks for offering the messages, and I would be grateful if you could send them to me, including the headers. That way I might be able to setup some website where the messages would be displayed in chronological order and perhaps preserving the topic structure. Or perhaps a forum into which I could import them.Istvánivaradi1975ParticipantHello,I have looked into the transfer to groups.io.It requires a Premium group there for the transfer, but the Premium subscription can be cancelled after a year. I am willing to pay for it (but if someone wants to share the costs, I would not refuse :))However, the transfer requires the ability to send an invite from this group to a certain e-mail address. I cannot find any button or menu item to do so, and since this group is restricted, I assume only an administrator has such a capability (and I am not one).So I think it would be nice, if our administrator would chip in. If he/she does not want to deal with the transfer, I am ready to become an administrator and deal with the rest.(BTW I have already downloaded the photos and the files to my computer, so if no other solution is found, I will be able to make them available from my server. The messages will be lost, however, unless they copied one by one with copy and paste, which seems to be a rather dull job :))Istvánivaradi1975ParticipantHi,I'm from Hungary, so I can understand what's written on that page 🙂
It is about the original series, and lists the actors and actresses
who dubbed it. In Hungary, it is the custom to dub movies and series
instead of subtitling them.It may be interesting, that the page mentions the "new" version of
dubbing ("Új szinkron verzó"). There is/was an old version made in the
80s, when the first few seasons of the series were originally
broadcast on Hungarian TV. Its fate is unknown: some say that the
recordings were destroyed by fire, some say that they still exist. The
new version was made in the 90s when the series was broadcast again,
but in its entirety this time. Onedin Line is being issued in Hungary
on DVD (2 seasons so far) with this new version.Istvan

few years ago I was in Stockholm, and was suprised to see a building
on the quay with the word "Anedin" displayed on it. The "A" has a
small circle or ring at the top of it, and the pronunciation of such
an "A" is very similar to an "O". So "Onedin" may be the
"englishified" version of this apparently existing Scandinavian name.

I am from Hungary, and The Onedin Line was on TV in our country in the
80s (and perhaps late 70s). Born in 1975 I watched the series as a I
child, and I liked it mostly because of the ships and the adventures.
I also always liked stories taking place in the late 19th century,
perhaps because the world seemed much freer then (which was very much
in contrast to the oppressive communism I lived in, and probably I
felt the huge difference even as a child). Of course, there are many
stories about the late 19th century with ships and adventures, but The
Onedin Line was special because of its general quality.I was not alone liking this series, because when the show was
broadcast on Tuesday evenings (that was the "slot" for The Series – we
had only one main TV channel and at any one time it ran only one
series from a western country), the streets in the Hungarian cities
got practically empty. Even when the show was re-run in the 90s, I
found it to be still one of the best series (despite having seen a lot
of more recent, mainly American series by then), though perhaps it was
not liked so much by the general public then.István
