garth3639MemberBill,
From your email you seem to have tried out several brands of DVD
blank discs. I have a Sony DVD recorder, a desktop PC fitted with a
Sony DVD writer and a Lite-On writer, and an old IBM notebook with an
IBM-branded DVD writer made by Panasonic. I've had my fingers burned
with a couple of brands of blank discs which haven't worked in some
or all of these. I now use Imation or Verbatim (including double-
layer if needed) and these work OK in everything I've got.I see you mention Tesco discs, and a friend uses these in his DVD
recorder and for his computer with no problems. Have you found any
problems with these?Regards,
Garth

My Sony DVD recorder is currently Region 2 but can be made region-
free if needed for about £25 (about $50) if I need this in the
future. As has been said, there may be a hack out there for you. The
other option is to buy a new region-free DVD player as prices are
tumbling. A Google search for "region-free DVD player" has brought up
over 1 million hits, and the first website I looked at had some very
cheap multi-region players, also several sites with hacks for
existing players.Hope you have some luck,

Worcester UK.garth3639MemberHi,I've had a look at this. The current highest bid is 69 SEK (Krona)
which is about 5.50 UK pounds. I can't find a way to translate the
site into English and maybe bid for this from the UK, and it doesn't
appear in the eBay UK listings even as an international purchase.Regards,

information with the group.

I sent them a few days ago. Maybe if other members of this group also
wrote to 2 entertain (as Marianne has already done) they may take a
bit of notice. Worth a try anyway!Regards,

Thank Yougarth3639MemberThanks Marianne for the info.I've emailed the BBC this week and got a very general reply suggesting
I looked on their website to see if "The Onedin Line" will be
transmitted in the following week as they can't advise further ahead
than that!! The UKTV website doesn't give any date for further
transmissions of "The Onedin Line" – they transmitted early episodes
but stopped last year, and in reply to my email to them asking why,
they said that there was insufficient interest to continue.I emailed Memphis Belle last year after receiving Series 3 and 4 and
they said at that time they were hoping to release more of the series
but that they were negotiating rights with the BBC.I've now looked on the 2 Entertain website (www.2entertain.co.uk) but
can't find any mention of "The Onedin Line" in their current or future
releases. Hope your information is reliable!Doesn't anyone in this group have series 5-8 on tape, maybe recorded
off air? I know that it was transmitted originally in the 1970's but
I've some recordings more than 25 years old on VHS, unfortunately "The
Onedin Line" isn't among them!Regards,
Garth Williams
