Yes, all 91 episodes. Only the pilot episode from 1970 with Anne Onedin played by Sheila Allen is missing. What a pity πDoes anyone know if this first version 'The wind blows free' was released on DVD in other countries?
28th July 2010 at 7:13 pm #1194liamegan2000MemberThere is no known recording of the pilot episode from 1970 with Anne Onedin
played by Sheila Allen, it has been suggested it was a victim of BBC policy
that also lost other productions.VT was expensive in those days, the tapes were wiped and reused when it was
considered there was no further interest in a programme rocorded on them.Bill.

Yes, this is a well known problem. We have a very interesting institution, the "Deutsches Rundfunkarchiv"
(German Broadcast Archive)
http://www.dra.de/.
They have a huge collection of historical documents (movie, video, audio, paper etc., partially digital archived), also old tv/bc equipment.
It is possible to use the DRA as private citizen, but copies are very expensive, pure rip-off.
They also watching Youtube and a lot of interesting historical videos will be deleted immediately…very angry!I think that a related institution also exists in UK. Perhaps the pilot episode is still archived anywhere.

29th July 2010 at 1:14 am #1198galacticprobeParticipantI may be wrong, but I think I read somewhere that the tapes containing this version (like many of the early "Doctor Who" stories) were reused to record new stories over it, meaning that version is lost forever, unless someone managed to record a copy when it first aired. But, also like the early "Who" stories, this may turn up in the hands of a collector one day, or in someone's closet because he recorded it, and we may see it restored and released. We can but hope.
(Of course, being in the Colonies here, getting ANY of "The Onedin Line" episodes is an exercise in frustration. Even repeated, polite, almost begging requests to BBC America have yielded nothing.)

10th October 2010 at 9:19 pm #1200chrisjbradyParticipantAll you have to do is rip the DVDs and convert them to AVI format. Might take up a lot of hard disk but you'l get to see them. Actually even easier is to play them on a PC / laptop – maybe connected with this to a t.v. to view at a distance. Any region coding can be by-passed with the s/w used to play the DVDs.
