4th April 2005 at 3:48 am #566ivaradiKeymasterOkay I bought the DVD I ordered. It contains just 4 eps. Though I
hae not viewed them all yet they appear to be the 1st four. The
titles, per the box are: The Wind Blows Free, Plain Sailing (homewoard
bound?), Other points of the Compass, and The High Price.
Apparantly James (though no inheritance) was somewhat better off than
Ann Webster as it seemed in the first episode. Sly dog that James to
marry her just for the boat. But, from what he said in that ep to her
in the cabin it may appear that he does actually love her anyway and
not just for the Charlotte Rhodes.
In my opinion JO is a bit of a ruthless jerk. Though I understand
where he is going he seems to tramp on a few people in the process of
it. I never gathered that from the the series parts I saw on TV so
many years ago.
Oh, btw, the price was $39.95. I think I might purchase Set 2 etc
as well.

Hi Ron,
Well if you have not followed the story from the beginning then you are in
for a treat. In 1860 you need to be ruthless to succeed, I not sure I agree
with the jerk bit though.Come to think about it some things don't change much in the business
world………..Bill.

Granted you had to be ruthless to make a go of a business
but he may have, in my opinion, been a little too callous,
suckering his brother for the thing–hence maybe a bit of a
jerk-maybe a heel or a cad. Though, I never saw the series
from the beginning (now I have in these 4 eps) I felt that JO
was kinda a nice guy later on. He seemed, to me, in the first eps
that he was a bit of philanderer. Don't get me wrong, I like his
character. He has guts, stamina, and a determined attitude.
