18th December 2008 at 10:02 pm #1081liamegan2000MemberI just received my copy of this.It is on 4 discs. The transfer looks like it has been taken from the export episodes the beeb sent out to overseas market, which I think might have been on 16mm film, but they are perfectly reasonable having said that. (Although not as good as the original masters the BBC still has in its archives judging by odd excerpts we see from time to time in documentary programmes).
As with the other releases from this source (MEMPHIS BELL) it does not look as though there has been any cleaning up of the material during digitisation. They are in the original episode format not all cobbled together like earlier versions of series 1 and 2 were.
Dutch subtitles come by default on my player but they can be turned off. The soundtrack is in English just in case anyone is in doubt.
I'm pleased to see these episodes again without all the poor picture and tracking problems on my old VHS tapes,
Didn't I read something about a legal wrangle over series 5 and this is why (at least as far as I know) it has only been available from the eBay seller? All the "normal" commercial shops had to withdraw it? Maybe someone knows.
Lets hope this does not get in the way of series 6 being issued! —- I hope.
Bill.

18th December 2008 at 11:59 pm #1082ivaradiKeymasterI also have just received my copy of series 5 through the ebay dealer and am extremely pleased to have been able to get it legally. I also appreciate all of the news and suggestions from shiponedingroup. I would never have known about the ebay int. source without the group. Thank you, all. I, also, am waiting for issues of series 6, 7 etc.
