Subject: [shiponedingroup] Which discs for episodes 8, 9 & 10 of season 4 DVD?Can someone please tell me which discs episodes 8, 9 & 10 of season 4 are on
in the DVD box set?The box set isn't available for sale where I am, so I am trying to download
them, but obviously this isn't easy as not many people are sharing such an
old series.Thanks

maija9liisaMemberHi István,
I think the episode you meant is the fouth episode of series 4 called
UNDERCURRENT.
And as Rob wrote it was Elisabeth not James who took the cartels on.Maija

being the youngest in the family and the only daughter. But she is a very brave
young Victorian woman having her own will wanting more of life than just the
security of marriage and her brains works as well as James's.The life would be quite
dull in Liverpoll without Elisabeth, her explosions are
refreshing!!!Maijastyle="PADDING-RIGHT:0px;PADDING-LEFT:5px;MARGIN-LEFT:5px;BORDER-LEFT:#000080 2px solid;MARGIN-RIGHT:0px;">

PMSubject: [shiponedingroup] Does anyone
like the character Elizabeth?
I am rewatching the first three seasons of The Onedin
Line again and
it has reminded me of how much I dislike Elizabeth. Does
anyone
actually like the character and can suggest any redeeming
qualities?maija9liisaMemberHi shipmatesI have been listening to The 7 th symphony of
Sibelius and I think that I have found the answer to Diana's question
about the music in Frisco Bound. The theme can be heard about 9 minutes from the
beginning of the 7 th of Sibelius, at least a part of it.Maijastyle="PADDING-RIGHT:0px;PADDING-LEFT:5px;MARGIN-LEFT:5px;BORDER-LEFT:#000000 2px solid;MARGIN-RIGHT:0px;">

AMSubject: [shiponedingroup] VariousHi,
In answer to Bill's query re the Drama Playhouse
episode, I gave a
bit of info about it in message 19 and there's also more
about it in
the Onedin Line section of the Gilmore/Stallybrass website
(http://www.gilmore-stallybrass.com/).The
book Marianne mentions by Peter Graham Scott is called "British
Television, An Insider's History". There is a whole chapter (25
pages) including a few photos devoted to The Onedin Line and the rest
of the book is very interesting too - there are a few errors. The
book is available from Amazon (not cheap) and also crops up on eBay.
PGS clearly put a lot of effort into Onedin and cared about the
series. I thoroughly recommend the book to all Onedin fans and anyone
interested in the history of British TV.And in response to
braniffjetliner2002's question about the music,
please see message 27 re
some more pieces that were used. I think
the Arnold Bax piece
Marianne mentions is Norwegian Wood. And my
question re the music
used in `Frisco Bound' is still outstanding. I
would love to know
the composer and title of the piece so if anyone
can help, please get in
touch.Regards to all,
Dianamaija9liisaMemberHi Matias,I think Jessica is younger.Probably she is born in 1948/1949.There was an article in The Woman's
Magazine in 1991/1992 saying :Peter is now 60 Anne 53 and Jessica
44.And we know that Peter is born in
1931 and Anne in 1940So if you count………………An other article I've seen Jessica says she was
about twenty when starting The Onedin Line 1970/1971.So 1942 is definitely too early!BW Maijastyle="PADDING-RIGHT:0px;PADDING-LEFT:5px;MARGIN-LEFT:5px;BORDER-LEFT:#000000 2px solid;MARGIN-RIGHT:0px;">

all his energy to make other people's lives difficult and unpleasant.
Look at his hideous face when he is greeting Anne when she and James are moving into the
warehouse!Maijastyle="PADDING-RIGHT:0px;PADDING-LEFT:5px;MARGIN-LEFT:5px;BORDER-LEFT:#000000 2px solid;MARGIN-RIGHT:0px;">

PollsCalling all shipmates again .....
Here goes with the
second poll. It would be nice if we could achieve
a 50% response
rate - it only takes a minute to vote! The subject this time
is:WHO IS YOUR LEAST FAVOURITE CHARACTER?
Only one vote
please. Reasons welcome.Voting closes midnight GMT on Sunday, 15
March. My least favourite character is Emma Callon. It's not
the actress,
Jane Seymour, it's the character who I find very irritating
and a
waste of time - I'd rather be watching James, Anne, Elizabeth,
Captain Baines ...... even Sarah. I usually fast forward through the
scenes with
Emma.maija9liisaMemberHello Diana and The rest of the crew, what a witty idea to activate the group, Diana!
This is also an opportunity to thank You and Bill being the heart
of this this group so far.My vote goes to James Onedin-Peter Gilmore.
The Onedin Line wouldn't be The Onedin Line without him.I was on my early thirties when I watched Onedin Line for the first
time in the seventies and Peter was fabulous then and still is after
30 years, when I was lucky to see The OL again last year.My Onedin colection is lacking the episode called Cry for Blackbird
from the series 1.Best regards Maija
